What's that you say? You can't reuse alkaline disposable batteries? Well, since I haven't actually used one, I'm not entirely sure it works properly, but it's interesting nonetheless.

This is called the Alkaline Battery Regenerator and it supposedly restores the energy in your dead alkaline batteries. Note that it doesn't recharge them, it just rejuvenates them. The site that sells this doesn't say how this process is achieved, but it does say that it's completely safe.

Apparently, it has protection against overcharge, overheat, short-circuit, and polarity reversal. The whole process is controlled by a processor and all you have to do is plug it in.

The Alkaline Battery Regenerator has 4 charging docks for regenerating AA and AAA batteries and can simultaneously work with types and sizes. The site also informs that it works with most battery brands.

What's more, you can use it more than once with the same batteries, 100 times to be more exact. Frankly, this would make rechargeable batteries futile, so there has to be a catch somewhere.

If this really works, then the 15 pound (30 dollars) Regenerator is quite a bargain, otherwise, you might just burn your house down with a minimum investment.

And since we're talking about recharging, you might want to take a look at the Freeloader, which takes power from the sun to recharge your gizmos. It might not work with AA or AAA batteries, but at least it's not that suspicious. As a quick reminder, the solar panels can charge the internal battery in 5 hours (a short time I might add) or 3 hours when using the supplied USB charging cable (not so short).
