Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is getting ready to release its latest software solution for the Blackberry smartphones available on the market, the BlackBerry Device Software 5.0, and has already made available a list with the supported devices for the new OS. In addition, the company also published some recommendations for those who would like to update their handsets.

First things first, the list of BlackBerry smartphones that will get the new BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 includes: BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8200-series smartphones, BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphones, BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphones, BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphones, BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphones, BlackBerry Storm 9500-series smartphones, and BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphones.

In other words, almost all of the company's devices are to enjoy the new software solution, yet there are also a few things that users should be aware of, including the fact that an optimized BlackBerry experience will be enjoyed on the handsets that have more than 64MB of memory for the new software solution to be supported.

“Please note that not all wireless service providers will support BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 on all of the BlackBerry smartphones mentioned, as some wireless service providers will not carry all of these BlackBerry smartphone models, or may choose not to provide BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 for all of their BlackBerry smartphone models, so please check with your wireless service provider to determine the availability of BlackBerry Device Software 5.0,” is what the Canadian vendor also states.

The BlackBerry OS 5.0 has surfaced in the news for quite a few months now, and was expected to make an appearance sometime at the beginning of the summer, but it seems that RIM only considered it fit for release in the fourth quarter. Verizon's BlackBerry Storm 9530 users can already enjoy the new software solution, and it seems that other BlackBerry owners will soon have the same opportunity, except maybe for those who already installed a leaked version of the OS on their handsets.
