Universal graphics card liquid cooling system supports NVIDIA's DirectX 11 cardsAfter months of preparations and repeated delays, NVIDIA has finally made the formal introduction of its GeForce GTX 400 Series graphics adapters, which are powered by the Fermi GF100 GPU and claim to be the most powerful single-GPU cards in existence. Nevertheless, there is a certain drawback of the adapters that actually make them some of the hottest devices on the market, in the literal sense of the word. The GTX 470 and GTX 480 are known for their high temperatures. Aiming to provide a solution to this issue, and gain some attention in the process, CoolIT has revealed that its Omni ALC universal graphics card liquid cooling system will fully support NVIDIA's new products.
The CoolIT Omni ALC was first demonstrated at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show and described as a universal liquid cooling solution both highly-capable and cost effective. The device is composed of a quiet Ceramic bearing CFF1 pump, with a MTTF of 50,000 hours, a plate with high-density micro-channels and a radiator measuring either 120mm or 240mm.
"When you pair the world's fastest GPU with the first-ever universal GPU liquid cooling solution, the results are visually astonishing," said Geoff Lyon, CEO of CoolIT Systems. "This combination will shatter benchmarks and deliver the most pulse-pounding graphics performance to date."
“The OMNI ALC revolutionizes the video card cooling industry by providing an upgradable, high performance and cost effective universal liquid cooling solution that does away with the traditional design approach. No longer do we need to purchase an entirely new cooling solution for each generation of video card, only the video card specific interposer plate must be changed. By ensuring that the liquid loop becomes a part of the cooling system that survives beyond one generation of VGA technology, the long term costs of owning liquid cooled graphics are dramatically reduced. This keeps the total cost of ownership as low as possible and enables one of the most environmentally friendly products in the marketplace,” the product page states.
The CoolIT Omni ALC LCS comes bundled with a high-grade thermal compound and a low toxicity coolant. Unfortunately, enthusiasts will still have to wait before they can get their new cards to chill out, as the product will only come out in summer.
