There are little things in life that compare to the feeling of adrenaline racing through your veins while at the wheel of a sports car. And while race-car driver careers are not for everyone, the evolution of technology has made possible not only accessible but also highly realistic motorsport simulations. Case in point: Forza Motorsport 3, a title reserved for owners of Xbox 360 consoles from Microsoft. But Microsoft is also bringing a small part of Forza Motorsport 3 to PC users via Windows 7. Unfortunately, PC users will not be able to play the actual game, which continues to be reserved for the Xbox 360.
The Redmond company has made available for download a new, free theme pack for the latest iteration of the Windows client featuring content from the game. The official theme is up for grabs via the British version of the Windows Personalization Gallery (download here). However, Windows 7 users will not be able to find it, or download it through the US version of the Personalization Gallery offering themes and wallpapers for the successor of Windows Vista.
The Forza Motorsport 3 Windows 7 theme brings to the table no less than three wallpapers featuring Audi R8 in action. In the absence of the actual gaming experience for the PC, the theme is the closest that Windows 7 users can come to Forza Motorsport 3, save for actually purchasing a console. Just as it is the case with additional theme packs offered via the Windows Personalization Gallery, the Forza Motorsport 3 theme is also free.
Microsoft Advertising is running a pilot program in which it is testing the impact of brand advertising on Windows 7 users through themes released for the operating system. In this context, the Forza Motorsport 3 is not the sole game from Microsoft to have its content transformed into a theme. Windows 7 users can also download themes for two additional Xbox games, Gears of War 2 and Gears of War.
