Dynolicious, an automotive performance meter for the iPhone and iPod touch, is now available for download via the iTunes App Store. Using the accelerometer of your handheld device, the app can measure the performance characteristics of your vehicle, without additional tools or wires.

According to BunsenTech, users simply need to slip the iPhone into a cradle or cupholder and start burning rubber so that Dynolicious can measure performance metrics like 0-60 Acceleration, 1/4 Mile Elapsed Time, Lateral Gs and, of course, Horsepower.

"Unlike other accelerometer-based performance meters, Dynolicious uses the advanced data-handling and display capabilities of the iPhone to make the most of your performance testing," BunsenTech says. "Dynolicious maintains a history of test runs, showing you averages and trends in your results," the company adds, also noting that users can even enter modifications performed to their car, to instantly see before-and-after results. The app does use the accelerometer built into Apple's iPhone or iPod Touch to sense the motion of the vehicle. This way, data is sampled about one hundred times per second, the makers say, "developing a detailed picture of the car's acceleration".

Performance Measurements include:

- 0-60 MPH
- Other Speed Tests (0-10 MPH through 0-100 MPH in 10MPH increments)
- Quarter Mile Elapsed Time
- Quarter Mile Trap Speed
- Elapsed Time and Trap Speed for standard intervals (60', 330', 1/8 Mi, 1000')
- Lateral G's (current and peak)
- Braking G's (current and peak)
- Wheel Horsepower
- Estimated Engine Horsepower.

Naturally, as any iPhone app needs not only to perform well, but too look good too, results are presented in a beautiful UI which shows realtime speedometer and graphs, realtime graphical skidpad display, results for latest test run or any saved run, averages based on vehicle, date, or modification and result comparisons between vehicles, dates, or before-and-after modifications.

Here's the iTunes App Store link for the download. Dynolicious costs $12.99.
