Soon enough, "party like it’s October 22nd, 2009" will be stuck with a geeky-wild resonance bound to reverberate through the hearts and minds of all users enamored with Windows 7. Unlike the end of 2006 and the start of 2007 when Microsoft kept mum on the launch of Windows Vista, just to hit consumers with the Wow, the company is now building up anticipation for Windows 7, almost two months ahead of General Availability. Yes, it looks like the software giant has learned yet another lesson from Vista’s marketing mistakes. Starting with the latest version of Windows’ GA, Microsoft is going to give green light to Global Windows 7 Launch Parties, inviting geeks to “be part of Windows history, host a Windows 7 launch party.”
Users in Australia, Italy, Canada, Japan, Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, Germany, USA, UK and India cannot only participate in Windows 7 Launch events but also host them. That’s right, Microsoft is letting people around the world host a Windows 7 Launch Party and is offering various goodies to get the adrenaline level up, including a free signature edition of Windows 7 Ultimate, party that hosts will get to keep.
“You host the party. We'll bring the favors. Apply online to host a Launch Party. Choose a day from October 22-29 and if you're selected, you'll not only receive a special Signature Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate but your very own Windows 7 Party Pack,” Microsoft noted. “Every host has a chance to win a PC. As an extra special party favor, hosts have a good chance of winning a PC worth $750! Become a host — you're in. Winners will be notified, and prizes delivered after October 30, 2009.” Microsoft will make sure and send all hosts what it referred to as a fantastic, free party pack (no telling just what exactly it will contain on top of the Signature Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate)
The Redmond-based company revealed that geeks wishing to be at the center of the Windows 7 universe between October 22nd – October 29th, 2009, are better to hurry if they want to be selected as hosts; “host spaces are very limited so apply now,” the software giant advised. There are even a range of suggestions for themes designed to deliver nuances to Windows 7 launch parties, including: PhotoPalooza, Media Mania, Setting up with Ease, and Family Friendly Fun.
“Hosting a Windows 7 Launch Party is easy,” Microsoft added. “You'll be assisted by House Party, the world's leading party organizer. Pick a theme, then upload photos and videos, chat with other hosts, blog your experience, and download fun favors all from your personal House Party page.”
