McDonald's Happy Meal Not to Steve Jobs' Liking

The agreement between Disney and McDonald's will end this summer

Eating fries and hamburgers in excess is hazardous to your health, the doctor says and so does Steve Jobs, who doesn't seem to like Ronald McDonald and his happy meals.

According to a Los Angeles Times article, Disney's new major shareholder will drop the contract with Disney this summer. The agreement was linked to the promotion of animation movies for children.

Steve Jobs had sounded the alarm signal since last year, when he said during a press conference that "there is value" in fast-food tie-ins, "but there are also some concerns, as our society becomes more conscious of some of the implications of fast food."

The agreement between Disney and McDonald's will end this summer, once "Cars" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" are released. The characters of these two movies will be the last in the Happy-Meal menus the children all around the world adore.

These scruples are not shared by DreamWorks Animation SKG, who is in talks with McDonald's to promote Shrek 3. However, as Los Angeles Times' Rachel Abramowitz writes, here too seems to be some debate as to what food to associate the green ogre with.
