Much in the same way that HP refreshed its entire product portfolio today, NEC decided to update its professional display lineup with a number of new devices. Still, as it always happens, there must always be a focal point for end-user attention, a product that stands out amongst the others and raises the profile of the entire collection. This once, the star is the MultiSync PA271W, the latest addition to the MultiSync PA series of professional display solutions.
This is a 27-inch widescreen monitor with a 7ms response time and a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m2. With a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, it should serve quite well in image and video editing tasks. A special asset of the display, in fact, is its 10-bit p-IPS panel's ability to reproduce 97.1 percent of the colors in the AdobeRGB color space. Other specifications include a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, three USB ports and dual DVI and DisplayPort inputs.
“The arrival of these new updates to our professional desktop products brings an incredible level of control to our customers,” said Art Marshall, Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions. “The most recent version of SpectraView brings compatibility of our award-winning calibration software to the MultiSync PA Series, while the new MultiProfiler software provides a simple, intuitive interface to perform a variety of custom functions that will aid graphics professionals.”
In addition to just the high video output capabilities that NEC endowed it with, the MultiSync PA271W is equipped with an AmbiBright ambient light sensor. This sensor can automatically adjust the brightness, depending on lighting conditions. End-users can also take advantage of special configurations, such as Picture-In-Picture and Picture-by-Picture.
For additional convenience and versatility, NEC's monitor has a 150mm height-adjustable stand that can also swivel, tilt and pivot. As for pricing and availability, the display solution should start selling this month for $1,399.
