A v20 update for the former, v31 for the latterFinnish mobile phone maker Nokia reportedly delivered two new firmware updates for some of its users, namely for those owning a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic handset, or a Nokia N85 device. The firmware in the former has been brought up to version v20.0.080, while the software solution now available for the latter is v31.002.
The worldwide leading handset vendor has been in a software updates release spree during the past few weeks, the guys over at All About Symbian note. The latest devices in the series are the aforementioned Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and Nokia N85, with a major software version change for the former, and only a small update for the latter.
The new firmware version for Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is 140MB in size, and can be downloaded either using the Nokia Software Update application, or over the air. Among the novelties that should have been included with the new software, one might find updated versions of Ovi Store, Ovi Maps, or Nokia Music widget, as well as a wide range of improvements and bug fixes, it seems, though nothing breathtaking in the end.
As for the Nokia N85, the new software version v31.002 is now available for download over the air, and comes mainly with a wide range of bug fixes, as well as with some “tweaks on streamings,” as AAS notes: “the naming convention of Gmail and Googlemail in the UK and Germany identified so far.” Those who would like to update their handsets should be able to do so by typing *#0000# on the homescreen.
As many of you might already know, both handsets come with UDP (User Data Preservation), and all of your files should survive the update process, yet one should strongly consider backing up all data on the handset, just to make sure. Either if backed on a PC or on a memory card, your personal files will be safer during the update, that's for sure.
