Ultimate Mortal Kombat is by far a new title for any platform... except for Nintendo's DS that is. Midway's highly popular franchise is hitting Nintendo's handheld with the power of a Shao Kahn's shoulder attack. Ultimate Mortal Kombat is rated M for Mature by the ESRB and is now available for the US market, going for $29.95.
The official report reads: Midway Games a leading interactive entertainment publisher and developer, announced today that Ultimate Mortal Kombat has shipped for the Nintendo DS. Ultimate Mortal Kombat brings the lighting fast fighting technique found in the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, along with Puzzle Kombat from the critically acclaimed Mortal Kombat: Deception to the handheld Nintendo DS.
Midway confirms that gamers will be able to tweak up their fighting skills, should they choose single-player mode, or go head-to-head via multi-player over the Nintendo Wireless network.
"Midway is excited in bringing the award-winning Mortal Kombat franchise to the Nintendo DS," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "Ultimate Mortal Kombat enables gamers the opportunity to take their fighting on the go, with both single-player and multi-player online options playable anywhere at any time."
So, just so everyone knows what they're getting for $29.95, the Ultimate Mortal Kombat pack ships with the classic Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 game AND the Puzzle Kombat component of Mortal Kombat: Deception, in "a single DS-friendly package." With new record-keeping capability, and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection multiplayer, players will be able to take UMK anywhere for fighting action on the go.
The Mortal Kombat Ultimate pack is the first Mortal Kombat game to hit Nintendo's handheld. The PSP has seen mortal kombat, the PS2, heck even the PS3 has MK II for those looking into a more retro gameplay experience. So, remember that Mortal Kombat Ultimate for DS is already on retailer's shelves, going for $29.95 a piece.
